BASIC SMALLBOAT: ASA 110 Check Weather

Location: Raleigh-Durham Poplar Point on Jordan Lake
Raleigh-Durham: This adult class begins with ground school on Friday afternoon 5:00 - 8:30.
Classes continue on Saturday and Sunday providing an additional 8 hours of instruction each day.
We start early in the morning on Saturday and Sunday to provide maxium time on the water
for students (beyond 8 hours) as conditions permit.

General Description ASA 110: Able to sail a centerboard sailboat (up to 20ft in length)
in light to moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar waters without supervision. A preparatory
Standard with no auxiliary power or navigation skills required.

SMALL BOAT / KEEL BOAT: Learn to Sail Vaction Package w/ Live Aboard Option

ASA 110 and ASA 101: This package includes two days of instruction on a 19 ft Flying Scot and three days of instruction on a 23ft Ericson. A live aboard option on our 28ft Ericson is available.
Live Aboard Option: $30.00 / night per person
This adult class begins on Monday morning at New Bern Grand Marina.
We start dockside 8:30A Monday through Friday to provide extra time on the water if
students would like to get more than 8 hours sailing during daylight hours. Evening hours are devoted
to review, covering new topics and social time amongst crew members

BASIC COASTAL CRUSING & BAREBOAT CHARTER: ASA 103 & 104
Prerequisite: ASA 101
Location: New Bern Grand Marina
LIVE ABOARD
Check-In: 3:00 PM Saturday afternoon. Students spend Saturday night onboard dockside provisioning
and preparing to set sail Sunday morning. Sunday through Wednesday nights are spent onboard
away from home port with return to home port on Thursday afternoon. Evening hours are devoted to days review,
covering new topics and social time between crew members. Thursday evening will be spent dockside in preparation for final written test on Friday morning. Check-Out: Friday 1:00P.

General Description ASA 103: Able to cruise safely in local and regional waters as both
skipper and crew on an auxiliary powered sailboat over 30 feet in length, in moderate winds
and sea conditions.
General Description ASA 104: An advanced cruising “Standard” for individuals with
cruising experience. The individual will be able act as skipper or crew of a boat over 30 feet in
length sailing by day in coastal waters. The Standard includes knowledge of boat systems and
maintenance procedures.

General Description ASA 105: Able to demonstrate the navigational theory required to safely
navigate a sailing vessel in coastal or inland waters. No Sailing skill or sailing knowledge is required.
