ASA 101: Days One & Two

General Description: Learn to skipper a 20' - 27' sloop-rigged keel boat by day, in light to moderate winds and sea conditions. Learn basic sailing terminology, parts and functions, helm commands, basic sail trim, points of sail, buoyage, seamanship and safety including basic navigation rules to avoid collisions and hazards.

ONLINE GROUND SCHOOL:
This course includes 4-6 hours of self-directed online ground school in order to reduce ground school and lecture time before heading out onto the water on the first day of class.
Online Ground School includes, parts of the boat, what makes a sailboat go, points of sail and basic maneuvers, aids to navigation, life jackets and other required safety equipment, crew over board maneuver and knots.

General Description: Learn to sail a 19' centerboard or multi-hull sailboat in light to moderate winds and sea conditions. Learn basic sailing terminology, sail trim, points of sail, crew responsibilities, seamanship and safety including capsize recovery and navigation rules to avoid collisions
